Oregon Snow

Most people don’t care about snow. Mostly cause they get it a lot. But one of the great things about Oregon, especially the valley, is that we don’t get it a lot. And everyone else may make fun of us, well I do too, that the whole city shuts down for enough snow to make a footprint.

Well we got some snow!! In case you are living under a rock and didn’t know that…. And it was more than a foot. Though here is Astoria it wasn’t as much as what the valley got, or for as long. But here are some pics of the beauty of the snow. 🙂

Astoria

I am amazed everyday of the sweeping beauty of Oregon.
Oregon is seriously (in my opinion) the most beautiful place to live. We have everything in the Northwest.
Mountains, beaches, forests, deserts, small towns, big cities, snowfall, rain, sunshine, rain, flowers, rain, green trees, and more rain.

It’s like one of the exchanges for living here I guess. Statistically we are not the area that gets the most rainfall per year, but I feel that it drizzles here a lot. During the winter when it is grey, and wet, and cold, and drizzly for 4 months straight it can be very tiring.

In return we are blessed with colors and sights unimaginable. The Willamette Valley is one of my favorite sights. It’s just beautiful.

This post, however, is not about the valley, but the coast. More specifically the harbor area of the Columbia. I live actually just off the harbor area. It’s really amazing. And I discovered that it’s really difficult to find a home here that doesn’t see water (Unless you are right behind someone else’s house).

Perhaps I will grow weary of the view and posting pictures like this….buuuuuuut probably not! ^__^

This is actually the view from our front room window. We are across from the Safeway parking lot but then there is the water. 20131016-150109.jpg

It’s not uncommon to see all these large shipping boats coming in and out of the harbor. Usually I can see 2 or 3 from the window, but there is more commonly 10 or more in the harbor at any given time. Plus cruise ships dock here as well, but they don’t come in that far because it is very shallow out there and the ships need a pilot boat to guide them in.20131016-150316.jpg
This is actually Youngs Bay which is on the other side of Astoria from where we live. (Below)
